Australian Bred Two-Year-Olds Off To Good Start In Singapore

The S$1million Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Series got off to a flying start in Singapore yesterday, with the Theo Kieser trained Kaiser (pictured) taking out the S$100,000 Inglis Melbourne Juvenile Stakes.

The race was the first two-year-old event for the season and is one of a seven race series that culminates with the running on the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe over 1200m on May 20.

In addition to the S$75,000 Base Stakes, the two-year-old event carried an S$25,000 Bonus to Australian bred horses that were sold by series partners Inglis or Magic Millions.

KAISER (2g Seidnazar-One Wink, by Last Tycoon) is a prime example of the great value of buying yearlings in Australia, particulary at Inglis Yearling Sales. The grandson of Rory’s Jester was pin-hooked as a ready-to-run horse for $80,000 after being purchased for just $11,000 at the 2010 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.

Being Australian bred and sold Kaiser earned his connections in excess of S$78,000 in one foul swoop yesterday afternoon.

“Australia is well known for producing precocious sprinter-milers that excel here in Asia, and this lucrative Golden Horseshoe Series for two-year-olds is a great initiative to highlights these qualities” said Inglis Asia Representative Peter Twomey at the Singapore Turf Club on Sunday.

“Singapore owners and trainers are great supporters of our sales and we look forward to again welcoming them down to our Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale at the end of this month” Twomey added.

Melbourne Premier graduates were at the fore in the two-year-old fillies event last Friday evening at Moonee Valley, with the Anthony Cummings trained Emerald Downs showing a clean pair of heals to race away with the MVRC Electrical Trade Unions Handicap over 1200m.

EMERALD DOWNS ($135,000 2010 Premier, 2f Churchill Downs-Spirit Of Grace) is a half-sister to Cumming’s former Group One winner Turffontein, who now resides alongside Churchill Downs at Blue Gum Farm in Victoria.

Blue Gum Farm will offer a full-brother to Emerald Downs at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale at the end of the month. Another 27 yearlings by young Danehill son Churchill Downs will also go under the hammer at Premier on February 28 to March 3.
