Australian Easter Broodmare Sale Now Online

Saturday’s Group 2 Surround Stakes was a great pointer to the upcoming Australian Easter Broodmare Sale and the catalogue for the three day April 14-16 sale is now online.

Snowdrift and Mannington were both sold at the 2005 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale carrying Portillo and Romneya respectively.

Snowdrift and Mannington are just two recent examples of high quality mares selling through Inglis Broodmare Sales, with others being Virage De Fortune and the record breaking Milanova.

This year’s sale will be no exception, with an already outstanding line up of 673 mares catalogued, with more than half being winners or black type performed, including no less than 60 stakes winners.

In the current climate, this year’s sale gives all buyers an excellent opportunity to upgrade their existing broodmare band.

For international buyers, the weak Australian dollar means the exchange rate is very much in their favour this year, while local breeders have their opportunity to take advantage of what is universally regarded as a buyers’ market for bloodstock at the present time.

While Portillo and Romneya were showcasing what can be harvested from the Broodmare Sale at Randwick, down south the outstanding filly Gallica reinforced that this year’s catalogue includes similarly strong entries.

Swing Queen (by Kingmambo), the dam of the G1 winning filly, is among the top echelon of mares catalogued for this year’s sale.

Among the racetrack stars is the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes winner Devil Moon, a million dollar earning daughter of King Cugat, and the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap winner La Montagna, who sells in foal to first season stallion Haradasun.

The catalogue also includes a host of recent stakes winners that are sure to command plenty of attention.

These include I Have No Fear, Belong To Many, Princess Gisella, Throne Inn, Danedina, Miss Marielle, Post Thyme, Soaressa and Pleasantsundaygirl, along with the G1 Blue Diamond placed filly Burgeis.

Other notable stakes winners include Ascorbic, Captivating, Besame Mucho, Dynamic Love, Egyptian Ibis (gam of G1 winner Desert Eagle), Flowerdrum, Flushed, Hi On Love, Li Lo Lill, Libidinious, Only Glory, Starry Way, Tyrolean and Visual Displays.

In The Past, dam of G2 Silver Slipper winner Domesday, is for sale in foal to Australia’s reigning Champion stallion Encosta De Lago. Happy Heart, the dam of G1 VRC Oaks winner Arapaho Miss, also sells in foal to Encosta De Lago.

Juvenile stakes winner Cinque is catalogued in foal to Fastnet Rock, G2 WA Oaks winner and G1 WA Derby placed Fatal Attraction sells in foal to Excellent Art and South African star Zolaroyale is in foal to Haradasun.

The covering sires reads like a ‘who’s who’ of Australia and the world’s leading stallions, in addition to a host of promising freshmen, including Any Given Saturday, Bernardini, Casino Prince, Dylan Thomas, God’s Own, Holy Roman Emperor and Magnus.

Champion Sires from the past three years, Encosta De Lago, Redoute’s Choice and Flying Spur are all represented with mares in foal, as are the likes of More Than Ready, Red Ransom, O’Reilly, Hussonet, Exceed And Excel, General Nediym and Show A Heart.

Due to the high number of mares already entered into the sale, Inglis will only be able to accept a limited number of high quality supplementary fillies and mares for this year’s sale. Any owner with a filly or mare that fits into that category should contact Inglis Bloodstock staff as soon as possible.
