The domination of world sprinting by Australian bred horses has continued with today’s release of the World Thoroughbred Rankings covering the period 1 November 2008 to 17 May 2009.

SACRED KINGDOM (Encosta de Lago-Courtroom Sweetie) re-captured his crown as the world’s champion sprinter with his brilliant win in the Kris Flyer Sprint in Singapore on Sunday. His performance earned a mark of 122, just 1pt off his career high rating of 123.

The exciting Singapore trained 3yo ROCKET MAN (Viscount-Macrosa) gallant when suffering his first defeat at the hands of Sacred Kingdom was rated at 121.

Newmarket Handicap-Lightning Stakes hero SCENIC BLAST (Scenic-Daughter’s Charm) who departs shortly for a UK campaign aimed at the Kings Stand and July Cup was the third highest rated sprinter on 120 ahead of Australian sprinting legends APACHE CAT (Lion Cavern-Tennessee Blaze) and TAKEOVER TARGET (Celtic Swing-Shady Stream) both on 119.

MALDIVIAN rounds the Australian content in the World top 50 on 118, a mark achieved in winning the C.F. Orr Stakes at Caulfield back in February
