Australian Weanling & Breeding Stock Sale Now Online

The catalogue for the upcoming Inglis Australian Weanling & Breeding Stock Sale, to be held at Newmarket on June 25 and 26, is now online, with supplementary entries being taken until Friday 19 June, to allow owners wishing to race their valuable fillies and mares on as close to the breeding season as possible. Many high quality Supplementary fillies and mares were entered late in last years sale, with vendors achieving excellent results.

An outstanding catalogue has already been put together for this sale, with the Johnson Family Dispersal and annual Makybe Reduction headlining the Breeding Stock section, which is scheduled for Thursday June 25.

After receiving good reviews in 2008, the New Sire Showcase will again be a feature of the sale this year, with TVN filming selected progeny of first season stallions at 9.30am on Thursday June 25, prior to the commencement of the Breeding Stock session. TVN will broadcast the Showcase live and repeat the program several times before commencing the Weanling session on Friday June 26. First season weanlings will be offered for sale as part of the 290-strong weanling catalogue on June 26, rather than being sold in a separate session as per last year.

“This sale is timed ideally being so close to the breeding season and owners with fillies and mares in Brisbane for the carnival looking to sell will find no better option than Newmarket in late June. It is also an ideal time for breeders and pinhookers to pick up a tax mare or weanling before the end of the financial year,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

“The Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale achieved outstanding results in its inaugural year and despite the overall bloodstock market being down, well credentialed fillies and mares off the track and well conformed weanlings have remained very much sought after commodities at sales this year.”
