Autumn Holds Strong

The Inglis Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale concluded today, with the overall result holding the strong gains made 12months ago.

Session I concluded with 245 yearlings sold for a gross of $2,832,250 at an average of $11,560, with another $980,500 traded in the session today. Session II grossed more than $250,000 and pleasingly today’s Supplementary catalogue boasted $238,250 in turnover at an average of $11,345, with two lots cracking the $50,000 mark.

“This sale made a 23% gain in average last year and to all but hold those figures is a very pleasing result for all concerned,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“The supplementary catalogue did very well and it was satisfying to see buyers waiting until the end of the day to bid on those lots, where they sold up to $52,500.

“The final clearance rate from the two days will be comfortably beyond the 80% mark, so all in all, it’s been a solid sale again this year.”

The highest priced lot sold today was a Falvelon colt from the family of Blue Diamond winner Wager and Saturday’s Flemington winner Fashion. Offered by Supreme Thorougbreds, the colt was knocked down to Australian Thoroughbreds for $60,000.

Blue Gum Farm’s Bel Esprit colt from Six O’Clock Rock, offered as part of the supplementary catalogue, sold to Mick Price for $52,500.

A General Nediym colt from Three Bridges also fetched $50,000 late in the day.

Horses passed in during this sale are still available for sale via the Make an Offer Service.

The next chance to secure an Inglis yearling is the Scone Select Yearling Sale to be held on May 12 and 15.
