Ealing Park had the top selling yearling at last year's Inglis Melbourne Autumn Sale and the Euroa based farm is hoping for an even better result this year.
Studmaster Tim Johnson has been busy putting the finishing touches on a solid draft of ten yearlings and believes there is some exceptional value among them. "All ten yearlings come from very well bred families and represent outstanding value," Johnson said.
The draft includes colts by Special Bond, Viscount, and Good Journey and fillies by Shamardal, Estambul, King de Lago, Good Journey, Special Bond, El Moxie and Tiger Hill.
"We are really looking ahead to the sale," Johnson said.
"The Shamardal progeny always sell very well and prove very popular and the Tiger Hill yearlings have been doing good things in the Northern Hemisphere." Johnson is expecting Lot 105 a bay filly by God's Own out of the winning Volksraad mare Volkiss to catch the eye.
Volkiss was runner up in the Listed CJC South Island Stakes in New Zealand and is a half sister to Listed Singapore Queen Elizabeth II Cup winner Fire House (Gold Brose).
The filly's second dam, Kiss (Pompeii Court) was a multiple group winner in New Zealand and finished third in the G1 New Zealand Stakes.
"She is a very smart filly, who is put together really well," Johnson explained. "She is built to be a very tough three-year old type, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if she hit the ground running as a fast 2YO. "We sold the half sister by Good Journey last year and she topped the sale."
Lot 122 a brown colt by Fairy King sire Special Bond out of Al Buraymi (Volksraad) is another highlight. The mare won four races from 1300m-2400m and was stakes placed in the G2 Matriach Stakes. The colt is a full brother to Top Strand, who was a pretty smart juvenile and won two races for Caulfield trainer Brendon McCarthy before being sold to Hong Kong connections.
"He will make a lovely three-year old this colt and should prove exceptional value for the buyer," Johnson said.
Those buyers seeking a filly with broodmare credentials should pay close attention to Lot 140 a brown filly by El Moxie out of Ballyconneely (Bureaucracy). The dam won two races and is a half sister to G2 VRC Kewney Stakes winner and G1 VRC Sires' Produce, VATC Thousand Guineas and Blue Diamond Stakes runner up Ponton Flyer (Flying Spur), who is the dam of Listed MVRC Mitchell McKenzie Stakes winner Minnesota Shark (Lonhro). Ballyconneely is also a half sister to Saliah, the dam of G1 AJC Epsom Handicap runner up Bank Robber (Dash For Cash).
"She is a nice correct type of filly," Jonhson explained. "When it comes to pedigrees they don't get too much better than this filly."
Lot 355 is a well bred Shamardal filly out of the winning Palace Flirt (Palace Music), making her a half sister to the stakes placed Lord Danzero (Danzero). The dam is a half sister to Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes winner Dangerous Seam (Straight Strike), who is the dam of Listed Merson Cooper Stakes winner and Lindsay Park sire Real Jester (Rory's Jester) and G1 VATC Blue Diamond Stakes runner up Seidnazar is by Rory's Jester and is based at Riverdene Stud. The filly is also related to G2 WATC Cox Stakes winner Daka's Gem (Sedaka).
"This filly is bred to hit the ground running as a very fast two year old," Johnson said.
Another highlight is Lot 363 a bay colt by Lindsay Park sire Good Journey out of the stakes placed Green Perfume mare Pont Aven. The colt's second dam Nevada (Deputy Governor) is a full sister to G1 VRC Sires Produce Stakes winner and G1 Champagne Stakes runner up My Duke.
