Autumn Yearling Sale

23rd Apr 2007

Melbourne’s Oaklands Junction holds its 2007 William Inglis & Son Autumn Yearling Sale this coming Sunday and Monday. In all, a total of 435 yearlings have been catalogued with 292 set to go through the ring on the Sunday commencing at 10:30am, with the remainder sold the following day, starting at 11:00am.

A staggering 137 different stallions will have progeny on offer, including drafts from Bianconi (USA), Bel Esprit, Dash For Cash, Catbird, Delago Brom, El Moxie (USA), Grass Wonder (USA), Invincible Spirit (IRE), Rubiton, Quest For Fame (GB), Untouchable and Umatilla. A lot of significant interest is Lot 117, a bay colt by the Group One winner Platinum Scissors. A full-brother to Champion Sire Redoute’s Choice, Platinum Scissors only had eight live foals in his first crop, therefore making this colt from the 12 time winning Kingston Rule (USA) mare Rulable, a highly sought after commodity.

Extensive drafts from many local and interstate vendors will see spirited bidding duels commonplace throughout the day. Woodlands Stud leads the vendors with a strong draft of 23 yearlings, followed by Chatswood Stud and Fulmen Park who will present 19 yearlings a piece. Furthermore one of Victoria’s leading nurseries, Eliza Park will head to Oaklands with a quality draft of 18 yearlings.

Group One winning Autumn Yearling Sale Graduate - Pompeii Ruler.

Scrolling through the past graduates of the William Inglis & Son Autumn Yearling Sale, you don’t have to delve too far back to find the undeniable quality that is available at the sale. A graduate of the 2004 rendition of the sale is none other that than the recent Group One VRC Australian Cup winner Pompeii Ruler. Victorious over Group One winners Tawqeet (USA), Aqua D’Amore, Blutigeroo, Casual Pass, El Segundo (NZ) and Lad Of The Manor (NZ), is what makes Pompeii Ruler one of the best horses of his generation. A likely favourite for this year’s Group One MVRC W.S. Cox Plate, Pompeii Ruler epitomises the ethos of the Autumn Sale - topline racehorses at affordable prices. Stakes winners of previous years’ such as Titanic Jack, Isanami, Darcenell, Coniston Gem and Smart And Mighty, all graduates of the Autumn Sale, further cement the quality that has graduated from the William Inglis & Son Autumn Yearling Sale.

One of many significant highlights this year is sure to be Lot 37, the Tara Farm offered Bel Esprit colt. A half-brother to General Nediym colt Ambitious General, the pedigree has received significant updates through the deeds of the dual Group One placing’s achieved in both the STC Rosehill Guineas and the AJC Derby by the Peter Moody trained galloper.

A complete list of pedigree updates will be available on the William Inglis & Son website late this afternoon, while catalogues can be obtained by contacting the Melbourne office on (03) 9333 1422, or can be viewed on the William Inglis & Son website.
