Autumn Yearling Sale - Day Two

3rd Apr 2006

William Inglis & Son’s two-day Autumn Yearling Sale concluded today at Oaklands Junction.

Yesterday’s $100,000 El Moxie colt from Basinghall Farm remained unchallenged as the overall sale-topper, while today’s top price came late in the session from the leading syndicators Aquanita Racing, who paid $38,000 for a colt by Strategic from the same vendor.

A handsome bay from the Sir Tristram mare Briko, the colt hails from the immediate family of Champion two-year-old and sire Marauding.

Overall 267 lots sold generated gross receipts of $2,684,000 and an average of $10,052.

Inglis Director Peter Heagney said afterwards: “Without doubt the better types of yearlings on offer attracted strong competition and were keenly sought after, with many of the lots particularly attractive to buyers purchasing horses to reoffer in our Breeze-Up sale to be conducted on October 29 th.”

The Inglis Sale season continues at Newmarket in two-weeks time with the Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
