Banner Form Holds Up in Maribyrnong Plate

The form out of the $250,000 Inglis Banner from Moonee Valley held up strongly in today’s Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate, with Arctic Command leading home an Inglis trifecta.

ARCTIC COMMAND ($55,000 2010 Premier, 2g Freeze-General Resolve) had run fourth to Elite Falls at the Valley and took good improvement from that race to score a strong win.

The Wendy Kelly trained gelding held off the strong finishing effort of AASHIQ ($90,000 2010 Premier , 2c General Nediym-Crevice), who had finished sixth on debut at Moonee Valley.

The Inglis Banner is named in honour of international Group 1 hero Starspangledbanner, who won the inaugural running of the event in 2008.

The Danny O’Brien trained first starter RUNNING TALL ($500,000 2010 Easter, 2c Stratum-Fleeting Touch) made an encouraging debut to grab third place in the Maribyrnong, rounding out the Inglis trifecta in the Group 3 feature.

The next race for 2010 Inglis graduates in the rich Inglis Race Series is at Canberra on November 28, with a $50,000 bonus up for grabs.

It’s then on to Randwick for the $250,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) on December 18. This race was won by fairytale filly Chance Bye last year.

Eligible graduates from the 2009 yearling sale series can race for $50,000 at Gosford (3YO Benchmark 65 1600m) on November 18, while a $100,000 bonus is available on a 1400m three-year-old (0-78) race at Sandown on November 27.
