A wide run in transit was no barrier to the bargain priced breeze up purchase Sea Battle, who delivered a timely reminder of the quality horses set to be sold tomorrow when he took out today’s Group 2 Jayco Crystal Mile.
The 2008 Inglis Breeze Up and Racehorse Sale will be held at Oaklands in Melbourne tomorrow, October 26, with selling beginning from 11am.
Sea Battle is a $15,000 graduate of the 2005 Inglis Breeze Up Sale and he completed a wonderful day for Mark Kavanagh, who went home with a trio of Group wins – all with Inglis graduates.
He had earlier won the G2 AAMI Vase with the outstanding Whobegotyou (P$17,000 2007 Classic) and Cox Plate with Maldivian ($195,000 2004 Easter).
Sea Battle is now the winner of eight races for earnings of $500,000 and he is now likely to tackle Group 1 glory at his next start.
The one day 2008 Inglis Breeze up and Racehorse Sale begins tomorrow from 11am at Oaklands.
“Sea Battle is a perfect example of the quality horses that come through the breeze up sale year after year,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.
“There were a great number of horses that breezed up very stylishly through the week and with this year’s catalogue boasting perhaps the best pedigrees I have seen in recent years, I expect there to be once again a number of top class horses emerge from this sale.”
A catalogue of 144 two and three-year-olds have been drawn together, with a number of highly impressive breeze ups completed on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
The sale includes a filly, Lot 113, by Champion stallion Zabeel, who completed a fourth Cox Plate success when Maldivian scored today.
The catalogue also includes progeny by Australia’s Champion Sires from the past two seasons, Encosta De Lago and Flying Spur.
The Breeze up 2 and 3yo’s will be followed by the Racehorse section of the catalogue (Lots 145 to 204).
Online bidding will be available throughout the sale, along with the Inglis Make an Offer service.
