Bede Murray will move to the next phase of his cancer treatment this week but is determined it won't keep him from Randwick on Saturday to see unbeaten Rafha's Choice chase the big bucks in the Inglis Nursery.
"It is a $500,000 race and they don't come along too often, so I want to be there," Murray said.
"I have been on tablet chemo for four months and been putting off the injectable form but I go in on Thursday for the first time. I'm just hoping it doesn't knock me around too much, so I can be there on Saturday."
Murray was told in May, he might have only six months to live when diagnosed with cancer.
"I decided to fight and everyone keeps coming up and saying how are you feeling and I'm fine. I was telling the doctor the other day I'm getting sick of people asking me how I am and asking why I feel good," Murray said.
"He said the cancer is under control at the moment, so the chemo is doing it's job. We just have to keep treating it."
Murray continues to have success on the track, with Gold Horizon winning at Doomben on Saturday and Rafha's Choice giving him something to look forward too.
The plan with the I Am Invincible two-year-old has been to get to the Inglis Nursery via two runs, which have been wins at Kembla Grange and Rosehill.
"I think he has improved again, a couple of lengths. I don't want to be too bullish but he is going in the right direction," Murray said. "The plan has worked so far and I can't see why it wouldn't continue."
