Moe trainer Tracey Templeton secured her first Inglis Race Series win today when Blue Beret scored an upset win in the $100,000 Inglis Autumn Plate (1200m).
BLUE BERET ($35,000 2010 Autumn, 2f Ne Coupez Pas-Militant Miss) crossed to lead early and withstood all challengers to win the $61,000 first prize.
Templeton had previously saddled fellow 2010 Autumn graduate Fast Bucks, who ran behind subsequent Golden Slipper placegetter Elite Falls in the Inglis Banner, in this year’s series.
Blue Beret is owned by Mark Ruff of Bulla Thoroughbreds after securing her from the draft of Little Plains Stud last year.
Connections had to survive a protest from runner-up Rossa May before celebrating their breakthrough race series win.
The aim is for Blue Beret to now target the $50,000 Inglis Bonus race over 1200m during the famous Warrnambool three day carnival on May 5.
The next opportunity for 2010 graduates in the rich series is a $50,000 Open 2YO at Hawkesbury on April 30, followed by the Warrnambool race and another $50,000 event at Wagga on May 5.
The $100,000 Inglis 2YO Challenge will be run at Scone on May 13 as part of the inaugural two-day Cup carnival.
Intertwined with the racing carnival is the two day 2011 Inglis HTBA Scone Select Yearling Sale on May 12 and 15.
