Blue Diamond barriers drawn; Inglis set to shout the bar on Saturday

Melbourne Racing Club - Press Release - Tuesday, 19 February 2013

Barriers were drawn for Saturday’s 2013 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes at a function in the ‘Connections’ Owners’ Pavilion at Caulfield Racecourse today.

At the event, Peter Heagney, Director of Australia’s premier thoroughbred bloodstock sales and auction group, Inglis, announced that his organisation would shout the bar at the ‘Connections’ facility should a horse sold at an Inglis sale win any race at Caulfield throughout the day.

Such success will be signalled by the crash of a gong on Saturday, of which Mr Heagney provided a preview today.

“Owners are the lifeblood of our industry, and we at Inglis are eternally dedicated to acknowledging that fact and rewarding the loyalty of our supporters, particularly ahead of our upcoming sales,” Mr Heagney said.

“And what better opportunity than on Blue Diamond day in this marvellous pavilion at Caulfield, where owners are afforded a matchless race day experience?”

Melbourne Racing Club General Manager – Commercial, Marketing and Racing, Fraser Bayne, lauded Inglis for their initiative.

“Our industry relies so heavily on the investment in it by racehorse owners, which is one of the major reasons we built the ‘Connections’ pavilion,” Mr Bayne said.

“Clubs like ours are also built on the relationships we have with organisations like Inglis, fabulous supporters of ours and the racing industry generally. We applaud their initiative and look forward to hearing the clamour of the gong on Saturday.”

Should an Inglis graduate win a race at Caulfield on Saturday, the ‘Connections’ bar will be shouted from the announcement of correct weight in that race until the off in the race following.

Two Inglis sales graduates will contend for Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes glory on Saturday: Crack A Roadie and Shamus Award.
