Blue Riband features on robust day two of Melbourne Premier

Local, interstate and overseas buyers spent $13.2 million on 152 lots during the second day of the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale which featured the successful running of the inaugural ‘Blue Riband’ Session.

“The Blue Riband session was a huge success, recording a clearance rate of 85% and an average price of $116,564,” said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.

“It was great to see so much competition on yearlings bred to excel over middle and staying distances, with buyers from Victoria, New South Wales, South Africa and Singapore purchasing from this new concept.

“Athletic yearlings by both proven and young sires have been extremely popular and we hope that all buyers are able to experience the outstanding racetrack results that horses from Melbourne are well renowned for ,” Webster said.

The overall average price for the sale has risen to $80,888 which is a 5 percent increase on the corresponding figure at the end of Day Two last year. 75% of all lots offered have been sold.
