Racing NSW has extended the nomination deadline for the Breeders Owners Bonus Scheme to include this week’s Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale at Newmarket.
Buyers will now have the chance to nominate any BOBS eligible horse purchased at Thursday’s Ready 2 Race sale for BOBS and BOBS Extra without paying a late fee.
Ready to run sales are becoming increasingly popular with buyers due to the quick turnaround of the horses from the sale ring to the racetrack.
“It is a natural progression to offer BOBS to buyers who might otherwise be disadvantaged for buying a horse at a ready to run sale outside of the BOBS closing deadline,” said Racing NSW Chief Executive Peter V’landys.
Now in its 11th year, the BOBS and BOBS Extra programs continue to grow in popularity.
Last season 1227 cash bonuses were paid totaling $9 million. Another $3.2 million was claimed through the unique BOBS Double Up option that doubles the cash value to be redeemed against a future purchase of a BOBS eligible yearling.
Owners that purchased a BOBS eligible horse at the Ready 2 Race sale can nominate from October 3.
The closing date for BOBS registration for purchases at the sale is Friday October 11.
