Brazen Beau Back On Top

It was a storm of youth today with Inglis graduates taking out a Group 1, a Group 2 and a Group 3 race on a fabulous day of racing at Flemington.

Talented three-year-old colt Brazen Beau proved why he was so sought after by Darley to join their stallion roster by beating some of the world’s best sprinters in the Group 1 Lexus Newmarket Handicap.

A $70,000 purchase at the 2013 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Murrulla Stud, Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible x Sansadee) blitzed the competition down the Flemington straight taking his earnings to in excess of $1,400,000 for Ontrack Thoroughbreds and trainer Chris Waller.

“You don’t see that every day, he’s beaten some very good horses and beaten them easy,” said Waller.

“He’s a very good horse, he did a great job in the spring and has had a trouble-free preparation,” Waller said.

Brazen Beau, now on track to run at Royal Ascot in June, joins the likes of Black Caviar, Takeover Target, Alinghi and Exceed And Excel as fellow graduates that have saluted in the Newmarket, and is the first three-year-old to complete the Coolmore Stakes and Newmarket double since Champion Inglis graduate Weekend Hussler.

Also at Flemington, two-year-old Inglis graduate Jameka took out the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes. Bred and sold by Gilgai farm, Jameka (Myboycharlie x Mine Game) was a $130,000 purchase for trainer Ciaron Maher at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

“I just loved her, and it’s a great group of guys we syndicated her to,” said Maher.

“I was taking her home no matter what,” Maher said.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the race has been won by an Inglis graduate, with Jameka following in the footsteps of Zululand, Twilight Royale, All Too Hard and Running Tall.

Short priced favourite Pasadena Girl saluted in the Group 3 VRC Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes. Bred by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax of New Zealand’s Blandford Stud and purchased for $25,000 from the draft of Eliza Park at the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the two-year-old filly has taken her earnings to over $160,000 for her connections.

Following an impressive win on debut in the Listed VRC Talindert Stakes three weeks earlier, Pasadena Girl (Savabeel x Nina From Pasadena) showed fantastic class to win for trainer Peter Moody.

“She gave them a fair start and a beating. She stamped herself with a bit of class today,” said Moody.

“They all had a full head of steam up and she was going backwards then sideways for 200 metres, but she was still able to pick them up,” Moody said.
