Coolmore - Press Release - Friday, 13th February 2009
THE Australian thoroughbred industry is rallying to assist those who have lost so much through the horrors of the Victorian bushfires and one of the initiatives being undertaken is an auction of nominations to a number of Coolmore Australia stallions which will start this Monday to raise money for those who have had their lives changed irreparably.
A nomination for the 2009 breeding season to Coolmore Australia’s champion stallion, Encosta de Lago, will be the feature item of an auction of stallion nominations designed to raise money for bushfire victims. A nomination to each of Encosta de Lago’s Australian-based barnmates Fastnet Rock, Haradasun, Royal Academy and Spinning World will also be auctioned, with all proceeds to be donated to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
“The human tragedy of these bushfires is simply horrific and, like many, we would like to make a contribution in any way we can,” said Michael Kirwan, Coolmore Australia’s General Manager.
“The bloodstock industry has a great history of helping those in need and the hope is that, with the assistance of our friends, our clients and the media, these nominations will raise some significant money that can be put to good use by the Red Cross.”
The auctioning of nominations will begin this Monday at 9am and will close a week later at 5pm on Monday, February 23.
Those who would like to bid can contact Sebastian Hutch at Coolmore Australia on 02 6576 4200, sebastian@coolmore.com.au or mobile number 0423 770 854
Successful bidders will be required to pay for their nominations within 14 days of the close of the auction. The complete rules for the auction will be posted on www.coolmore.com ahead of Monday’s auction.
It will be possible to follow the progress of the auction, with a daily update on the bids to be shown on the Coolmore website, on TVN, on www.breednet.com.au and in the ANZ Bloodstock News daily newsletter.
The Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal is an opportunity for the thoroughbred community to come together and once again make a difference.
If any media would like further information regarding this appeal please call Eden Harrington on 0423 770 299.
