BREEZE-UP LOTS MAKE SOME TIME

12th Dec 2007

The William Inglis & Son Ltd Breeze-Up sale has a well-earned reputation as a source of winners so it was no surprise that a healthy crowd was in attendance at Oaklands Junction this morning to witness the breeze-up works from the two and three-year-old’s entered in Friday’s sale. All footage of lots breezing will be avaliable from 5pm here.

No less than nine horses went below 11 seconds for their final 200 metres, the fastest time being clocked by lot 35 – a strongly made colt by Portland Pirate. Consigned by Colonial Lodge at Koo-wee-rup, the November foal is already named ‘Colonial Lad’ so the grandson of Zabeel (NZ) is ready to go to the races - ideal for anyone looking to have a runner soon.

The quickest sectional clocked by a filly was the 10.78 recorded by lot 37 – a daughter of proven Group 1 sire Dolphin Street (Fr) out of the winning Royal Academy mare Uffizi

Others to work in good fashion included lot 40, a strongly made colt by Hussonet from Spinocks looked an outstanding prospect as he breezed 10.90s in good style.

Lot 22, a gelding by Falvelon from Ruby Friday breezed up in 11.05s, while first season sire Hold That Tiger gave an indication of his first crop’s ability with lot 30, a colt from Zantoussa stopping the clock at 10.87s.

Lot 44 Grace The Wind, by prolific winner getter General Nediym recorded 10.84s for her 200m breeze and didn’t look far off a racetrack debut.

“Despite a diminished catalogue due to EI, we have been pleased with the standard of entry, and judging by the way some of the lots worked we are more than confident that there will be more new winners to add to the growing list of graduates from our Breeze-Up Sale,” said Peter Heagney.

“Considering that all the horses in the sale are EI free and ready to go on with, interest is good from buyers from all around Australia and Asia and with some nice horses to sell there should be plenty of competition.” Heagney explained.

The sale commences on Friday morning at 10.30am and there is a mixed bloodstock section to follow on from the 2 & 3-yo Breeze-Up lots. All enquiries regarding any lots should be directed to 03 9333 1422
