The catalogue for the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale has only been online for a few days but already there’s an important black type pedigree update.
Sequalo mare CARIAD created a huge impression when coming from a clear last to win the Listed Nudgee Quality running away at Doomben on Saturday.
Following the race, trainer Steele Ryan said he regards Cariad as the best horse he has trained.
“This filly can do things that I’ve never seen before,” he said. “The last two starts I have been able to get her head right and she’s proven she’s a little bit better than average.”
Sefton Park will offer a Choisir half-brother to Cariad as Lot 47 at Easter. The colt’s dam Shower Of Steel now has the distinction of being the dam of two horses to race with both being black type winners.
Shower Of Steel is a half-sister to the nine times winner Steel Lips, who added further to the family’s list of black type when running second in the Gold Coast Goldmarket earlier this month.
The Goldmarket was taken out by Captain Sonador, winner of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap earlier in the season.
Mill Park will offer a half-sister to Captain Sonador as Lot 417 at Easter. The filly is by red hot stallion Not A Single Doubt.
The 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held in Sydney from April 5-7.
