Top Sydney jockey Corey Brown is excited by the prospect of riding a promising Victorian three-year-old in Saturday's $150,000 Listed Blacktown Workers Hawkesbury Schweppes Guineas (1400m) at the big Hawkesbury "Stand-alone Saturday” meeting.
Brown will team up with the Colin Scott-trained Speediness, the winner of two of his four starts.
"I can only tell you what I've seen on the TV but he looks to be a really nice horse,” Brown said.
"His wins have been very good and his trial recently on the synthetic track at Geelong was sensational.
"When the jock pushed the button at the furlong he just lengthened and put four on them easy.
"My manager [Brett Grant] was really excited to get the ride and he's a good judge.
"From what I've seen of the horse has me looking forward to jumping on his back on Saturday.”
After Saturday's feature Speediness is scheduled to head to Scone for a clash with star NSW galloper Sincero in the Inglis Scone 3YO Guineas.
"Hawkesbury and Scone are the two aims,” Brown said.
"We thought they may push up to Brisbane but the trainer seems to think they might head home after Scone with a view towards the spring.
"He looks the real deal and he looks the type of horse that will keep improving.”
