Buoyant Great Southern Sale Concludes Inglis’ Sales Season

A bumper four-day 2015 Inglis Great Southern Sale rounded off an astronomical season of Inglis’ sales in 2015, where 3500 thoroughbreds were sold at an outstanding overall clearance of 84%.

“The team at Inglis is delighted that we could achieve such fantastic results for our vendors, and we would like to thank them for the opportunity to sell numerous yearlings, weanlings, broodmares and racing stock this sales season,” said Inglis National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

“The Inglis Bloodstock team have already been on the road inspecting weanlings for next year’s round of yearling sales, and rising two-year-olds for our upcoming select Ready 2 Race sale. We look forward to catching up with many more vendors in the coming months,” added D’Arcy.

The fourth and final day of selling today in Melbourne achieved an excellent clearance rate in the Yearling and Racehorses Session of 86 per cent. 597 horses have been sold through the Oaklands ring since Sunday, grossing $8,535,300, a 72% increase on last year’s figure.

“It was very satisfying to finish the sales season on such a buoyant note. From the weanlings and broodmares right through to the racing stock, there was good competition and the sale finished with excellent results in all sections. I think the success of a sale can often be judged by the clearance and we achieved over 80% in most sections,” said Inglis Victorian Director Peter Heagney.

The auditorium was again alive with spirited bidding from many local and interstate buyers, which helped to achieve overall clearance rate of 82% across the sale.

The top price today was paid for the three-year-old race gelding Royal Standing (Lot 697) (pictured) from the Contract Racing draft, which sold all four of their offerings today. The son of Stratum, whose last start was the Group 1 VRC Derby in November, was purchased by one of his owners to absolve the syndicate.

South Australian-based Hancock Quality Bloodstock (FBAA) signed for Scarlet Moretta (Lot 794) from the draft of Stonehouse Thoroughbreds for $87,500. The wonderfully-related four-year-old is a daughter of Fastnet Rock.

Hancock purchased another of Stonhouse’s offerings earlier in the day, paying $25,000 for the city-winning four-year-old mare Marmelo (Lot 676).

Lindsay Park Racing sold all ten of their offerings, topped by the Fastnet Rock mare Hennessy Rock (Lot 799), that was secured by Glenelg Park Pty Ltd for $67,500.

Horses passed in this week are available for sale via the Inglis Make-An-Offer Service.
