Caviar fever at Flemington

Black Caviar again stole the show on the final day of the Flemington Spring Carnival, where gallopers with siblings heading to Inglis yearling sales in 2012 recorded some impressive black type victories.

BLACK CAVIAR ($210,000 2008 Premier, 5m Bel Esprit-Helsinge) strolled to $4.3million in earnings winning her 16th race from 16 starts in the $1million Group 1 VRC Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) down the Flemington straight six.

The superstar mare, referred to by Bruce McAvaney as “the horse that stops the nation”, defeated Buffering by two and three-quarter lengths with Mid Summer Music third in the Melbourne Spring Carnival’s feature sprint.

A $210,000 purchase from the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the daughter of Bel Esprit may travel next to Western Australia for the newly elevated Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot on November 19.

Black Caviar’s yearling half-sister (by Redoute’s Choice) will be offered at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, typifying the quality of youngster that has accepted for the sale in Sydney next April 10 to 12.

Patinack Farm filly REAL STOLLE ($18,000 2010 Weanling, 2f Elusive Quality-Lemon Ruski) started the day off well with victory in the opening event at Flemington, the Group 3 VRC Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) for two-year-olds.

Settling back in the capacity 16 horse field, the John Thompson trained filly charged to line to finish ahead of Andre Roo Hoo (by Written Tycoon) and Magnus Reign (by Magnus) in 57.71seconds.

Real Stolle’s dam Lemon Ruski was purchased by Patinack Farm for $17,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale in April 2010, so when Real Stolle was offered through the Newmarket ring at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale just two months later Nathan Tinkler’s team were very happy to snap her up for $18,000.

Patinack Farm will offer a half-brother (by Teofilo) to Real Stolle at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

Joining the Lemon Ruski colt at Oaklands next February 27 to March 1 will be a brother (by Flying Spur) to today's Group 2 VRC Matriarch Stakes winner Vintedge, which will be offered by Yallambee Stud, and a three-quarter brother (by Redoute’s Choice) to Listed VRC Hilton Hotels Stakes winner Instinction, which will be offered by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.

A very progressive three-year-old colt, INSTINCTION ($300,000 2010 Premier, 3c Exceed And Excel–De Lago Mist) outgunned Mahisara and Amah Rock over 1400m of the fourth event at Flemington, stamping himself as an up-and-coming youngster to follow from the carnival.

The top lot of Day 1 of the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale when sold to Mick Price and Blue Sky Thoroughbreds, Instinction will now be aimed at the Group 2 Sandown Guineas in seven days times, before being targeted at the Group 1 Australian Guineas back at Flemington next March.
