Caviar Justifies World Best Tag

The Melbourne Premier Sale’s reputation as the source of the World’s best sprinters was further underlined as Black Caviar left onlookers searching for superlatives with her Lightning Stakes win today.

In taking her unbeaten sequence to nine, Black Caviar also highlighted a half-brother being offered at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

BLACK CAVIAR ($210,000 2008 Premier, 4m Bel Esprit-Helsinge) was simply stunning and was throttled right down in the last 100m by Luke Nolen, with Hay List a distant second.

WARM LOVE ($9000 2008 Great Southern Weanling, 3f Octagonal-Charangas) franked her rating as one of racing’s biggest bargains of the present time when running a solid third in the Lightning. The David Brideoake trained filly has enjoyed an outstanding campaign with three wins and now the Group 1 placing.

Black Caviar, who was prepared for sale by Swettenham Stud, shot to the top of the World Sprint rankings following her dominant Patinack Stakes Group 1 breakthrough last spring.

She heads a trifecta for Premier graduates in the sprint division of the rankings, with Starspangledbanner and Sacred Kingdom rounding out the top three.

Black Caviar was one of three winners on the Flemington program purchased through the Premier Sale.

KING DIAMOND ($80,000 2008 Premier, 4g Danewin-Kali Smytzer) took his earnings to almost $200,000 when winning over 2000m, while DID WE WIN ($35,000 2006 Premier, 6g Umatilla-Oh So Fine) upset favourite backers in the final event on the card.

Amarina Farm product ANEVAY ($160,000 2010 Easter, 2f Exceed And Excel-Categorical) kicked off the Flemington meeting on a positive note for Inglis graduates when winning the Listed Talindert Stakes.

Easter also snared a major prize in New Zealand today when SHOWCAUSE (P$140,000 2007 Easter, 5g Giant’s Causeway-Showella) won the G2 Avondale Cup.

Caviar Brother highlights Pedigree Updates

Makybe, as agent for Gilgai Farm, will offer a Casino Prince half-brother to the World’s Champion Sprinter as Lot 277 at Easter.

Black Caviar’s dam Helsinge (by Desert Sun) has an unblemished record as a broodmare. Not only are both her foals to race winners, but they are both unbeaten. Black Caviar is yet to taste defeat in nine starts and her full-brother Moshe is a winner of two from two.

HALEKULANI ($375,000 2009 Easter, 3g Encosta De Lago-Flying Spice), who was dual stakes placed in his debut campaign, made an encouraging return to racing when comfortably winning the North Ryde RSL Club Handicap.

Coolmore Stud will offer a full-sister to Halekulani as Lot 246 at Easter.

The 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held in Sydney from April 5-7.

King Diamond’s win was notable from a Premier Sale point of view. Shadow Glen will offer a half-brother to King Diamond as Lot 51 at Premier. The bay colt is a first crop son of Hussonet stallion Host.

The 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale runs over four sessions from February 28 to March 3.
