Chautauqua joined Lankan Rupee as the equal-highest rated Australian galloper after the latest release of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings.
The Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes-trained five-year-old gelding produced a stunning finish to win the Group 1 Manikato Stakes by two lengths at Moonee Valley, earning a 123 rating.
That matches Lankan Rupee's 123 rating from the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning in February.
Chautauqua and Lankan Rupee are usurped only by Able Friend (125) among Australian-bred horses, with American Pharoah (133) topping all-comers from Golden Horn (130), Treve (126), Shared Belief (125) and Solow (124).
American Pharoah earned his benchmark rating via a 6.5-length victory in the Group 1 Breeders' Cup Classic.
Cox Plate champion Winx is next in for the Australians, earning a 122 rating with a 4.75-length rout of the field in Australasia's greatest weight-for-age championship.
Brazen Beau (121) also features for trainer Chris Waller, from his devastating Group 1 Newmarket Handicap win in March.
Murray Baker's Caulfield Cup winner Mongolian Khan ran up to a 120 rating to earn top-50 honours, matching Lindsay Park's Criterion.
