Victorian stud Paringa Park outlaid a sale topping $245,000 to secure Chicago Wonder (Lot 727), a Bluebird (USA) half-sister to Hong Kong Group One winner Jeune King Prawn and dual Listed winner Creative Plan during the final session of The William Inglis & Son Great Southern Broodmare. Offered by Trevor Gluck's Tremon Thoroughbreds, the mare is in foal to the Coolmore Stud based Danehill Dancer (IRE). Interestingly, Chicago Wonder's weanling, a colt by Flying Spur topped the Weanling Sale session, selling for $240,000 to Ascot Farm of New Zealand.
Gross receipts of $2 million for the session, coupled with yesterday's figure saw an increase of 41% on last year's Broodmare section. An overall average price of $15,873 also notes an increase of 26% on last year's corresponding Broodmare sessions.
With the sale being the largest offering of bloodstock ever held in Victoria, it has been extremely well attended and supported by numerous members of the industry from New Zealand, Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and Tasmania.
William Inglis & Son Director Peter Heagney was delighted with the results of the broodmare section indicating that, “Broodmares in foal to commercial stallions were highly sought after, while quality race fillies off the track have also been in huge demand.”
The sale continues tomorrow, commencing at 10:30am with in excess of 250 Yearlings, Unbroken Stock and Racehorses including a selection of well bred fillies. The supplementary catalogue that contains close to 70 additional racehorses is available from the Oaklands office.
Catalogues for the William Inglis & Son Great Southern Sale can be obtained by contacting the Oaklands office on 03 9333 1422 or can be viewed on the William Inglis & Son website.
