City winner in foal to Fastnet Rock tops Day Three of Great Southern Sale

Buyers demand for bloodstock associated with Fastnet Rock saw no sign of fading into the broodmare section of the 2012 Inglis Great Southern Sale, with city winning mare Cool And Composed sold in foal to the 2011/12 Australian Champion Sire elect for $150,000.

From stakes winner Icy Calm and a half-sister to stakes winner The Big Chill, Lot 586 - Cool And Composed was the highest priced lot sold at Oaklands on Thursday when secured by bloodstock agent Steve Brem.

Young city winners from the Contract Racing’s Reduction were also popular with buyers, with Peter Ford snapping up Lot 444 a half-sister to Group 1 winner River Dove in foal to Domesday for $50,000, while Emirates Park purchased Lot 602 the half-sister to Kulgrinda in foal to Excellent Art for $42,500.

“Young well related mares and proven producers in foal were in demand and there was excellent value buying at the lower levels,” Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney said.

“There were some very nice breeding prospects such as Group 2 winner Avienus that weren’t able to find a new home and our bloodstock team will be available to anyone looking to make and offer on any of the passed in lots over the coming days,” Heagney added.

Broodmare that passed in today are available for sale via the Inglis Make-An-Offer service.

The final day of the 2012 Great Southern Sale will get underway at 10:30am tomorrow, Friday May 25. The online catalogue for the Day Four offerings can be viewed HERE

Covering sires of broodmares to be offered tomorrow include Ad Valorem, Domesday, Danzero, Duke of Marmalade, Dylan Thomas, Onemorenomore, Reset, Star Witness, Von Costa de Hero, Stryker and Written Tycoon.

70 fillies and mares that are either half, three-quarter or full sisters to stakes performers are set to be offered on the final day of the 2012 Inglis Great Southern Sale.

Stallions catalogued include Group 3 winners Pillar Of Hercules, Primus and Tully Dane.

There is also a good selection of yearlings, unbroken stock and racehorses to be auctioned on Friday including stakes placed mares Metonymy and Miss Elvee, along with plenty of city winners, unraced and lightly raced stock.

The final day of this year’s Great Southern Sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live from 10:30am, with Online Bidding and Make-An-Offer available for those buyers unable to attend the Oaklands complex.
