7th Feb 2007
With the declarations this morning of the final field for the running of Saturday’s $500,000 2007 Inglis Classic Race, expectations are high for what is sure to be a great race on one of the best days racing we have seen so far this year.
Joining the Inglis Classic Race on the Randwick card will be the Group Two Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) which will see the return of exciting Commands colt COURT COMMAND (2005 Classic, $120,000) and the Woodlands owned MEARAS (2005 Easter, $1.1 million) . While in Melbourne we will see the Autumn return of history making Redoute’s Choice filly, MISS FINLAND (2005 Easter, $450,000) who will take on Group One performers AQUA D’AMORE (2003 Easter, $350,000) and 2004 Autumn Yearling graduate POMPEII RULER in the Group One C.F. Orr Stakes (1400m).
The final field can be viewed here, and upon viewing, it further enhances the well known fact that enormous value is available at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. With the average purchase price of the field being just under $55,000, a figure that in the past has secured Champion Sprinters CHOISIR and SILENT WITNESS , both from the 2001 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, it provides a market place that is accessible to everyone within the industry.
The form leading into the race clearly indicates that the Anthony Cummings trained DANEHILL SMILE (2006 Classic, $50,000) will be the hardest to beat, and with Darren Beadman aboard, the connections of the unbeaten filly are looking forward to Saturday’s challenge. Of the other favoured runners, the Cloros Family owned LIESERL (2006 Classic, $57,500) appears to have drawn one of the more favourable draws in barrier six. Purchased on behalf of connections by leading Bloodstock agent, Jon Freyer, the Gai Waterhouse trained filly also heads into the races as one of six unbeaten gallopers.
The 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale is set to commence at 6pm Saturday, after the nine race program at Randwick, with 100 lots set to go through the ring. A list of numerous pedigree updates are now available for viewing online here. The sale continues on both Sunday 11 and Monday 12, starting at 11am each day.
