Muskoka Farm ended Day One as the leading buyer having snapped up four colts for $270,000. All will be pinhooked into the Inglis Sydney Ready 2 Race Sale in October.
“We had great success at last year’s Ready 2 Race Sale so have come here on a mission to purchase types that we can make a good return on our investment back here later in the year at the two-year-old sale,” said Muskoka Farm Principal Wendy Lapointe.
“John Hutchinson, Rick Worthington and myself are working together to secure a specific type on a strict budget and we are delighted with today’s four purchases. We hope we can add a few more tomorrow before we take them through our system with Gerald Ryan as we did last year,” Wendy added.
Muskoka and other local buyers had plenty of competition from interstate and overseas. International markets active on the day included New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, China and South Africa.
The average price on Day One was up 6% on last year’s figure to $34,804. The median was a strong $30,000.
Emirates Park, which sold Group 3 winner Boomwaa at Classic Summer Book last year, finished as the leading vendor by aggregate today selling 25 lots for $518,000.
