Classic Yearlings Continue To Excite Buyers

15th Jan 2005

The 2005 William Inglis Yearling Sale Series kicked off in fine fashion today with a massive crowd on hand for the ever-popular Classic Yearling Sale.

In today’s opening session a total of 209 yearlings sold for an average price of $35,961 and gross receipts of $7,515,954.

The highlight horse of the opening session was lot 72, a filly by Langfuhr from Icecapade, a half sister to the stakes winning racemare Ain’t Seen Nothin’. It was no surprise that Barbara Joseph paid $190,000 for the filly, having prepared Ain’t Seen Nothin’ and 2004 Inglis Classic winner Commands Nothin’ from the very consistent family.

“She is very much like Ain’t Seen Nothin’ particularly the head and shoulder. I did think I would have to pay around the $150,000, but $190,000 is the most I have ever paid for a horse,” said Barbara.

Managing Director Reg Inglis was thrilled with today’s proceedings.

“The Classic Yearling Sale is synonymous with success and value. Buyers continue to find favour with this sale and it was very encouraging to see a great turnout here today with buyers from all states of Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan,” said Reg Inglis.
