Concealer Tunes Up For Diamond

Breeding and Racing - Tuesday, 19th January 2016

Trainer Tony McEvoy will gallop leading Blue Diamond Stakes contender Concealer at Flemington today.

The Nicconi filly is one for one after scoring a fast-finishing debut victory in the Gr3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) for 2YO fillies at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

Concealer, who is a $13 chance for the $1 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on 27 February, is rated by McEvoy as the best juvenile in his stable.

"She was so impressive that day at Flemington," McEvoy told Radio Sport National's Racing Ahead program.

"She's physically got a little better I think, so I'd say she's the benchmark [two-year-old] of mine."

Bred and sold by Riverdene Stud proprietor Dr Kevin Pendergast for $35,000 to McEvoy Mitchell Racing at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Concealer is out of the unraced Tale Of The Cat mare Beauty Kit and hails from the female family of Gr1 Orlando Wines Classic (now Coolmore Classic) winner Strawberry Fair.
