Confederation tops Oct (Late) Sale at $205,000

Progressive 3YO colt Confederation (Wootton Bassett) topped today’s Inglis Digital October (Late) Online Sale, selling to Sandhurst for $205,000.

The Chris Waller-trained Confederation was offered by the Coolmore Colts Syndicate, who also sold First Act in the sale for $105,000 to Griffiths Racing.

Speaking on behalf of the Coolmore Colts Syndicate, Brian McGuire said: “We were inundated with enquiries on Confederation and First Act from prospective buyers both here and internationally.

“We’re very happy with the results, I believe both will remain racing in Australia for their new connections who we wish the very best of luck to.’’

Today’s second-top lot was an unnamed 2YO Toronado colt out of Baccarat Baby, making him a brother to Inglis Ready2Race sale-topper and G1 winner Tron Bolt.

Offered by Headline Thoroughbreds, the colt sold to X Bloodstock for $200,000.

X Bloodstock’s Kevin Sin said a decision on who would train the colt would be made in coming days.

“It’s a lovely family, we liked Tron Bolt at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale last year but didn’t have enough money to buy him and obviously he’s gone on to be a Group 1-winning colt,’’ Sin said.

“We think this colt is going to make a very nice racehorse and we hope he’s up to his brother’s standards. He is an unexposed talent with the right temperament and constitution from a well-related family.

“He will stay in Australia for the time being, we will make a call in the next couple of days who will train him and all of that. One option is to get him up to Hong Kong eventually to race but we’re also happy to keep him in Australia, we just need to find out what’s under the bonnet first.’’

The Toronado colt was one of seven offerings in the Headline Thoroughbreds draft, all of which sold for a gross of $471,600.

Two 2.5% shares in untapped 2YO She’s Supreme – which values the filly at $400,000 – was another highlight result out of today’s sale.

She’s Supreme (Exceedance) is a $40,000 Classic Yearling Sale purchase for her trainers Marc and Mitchell Conners who has raced just once, finishing 3rd in the G3 Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick earlier this month.

With both 2.5% shares realising $10,000 online today, that filly is now valued at 10-times her yearling purchase price from February this year.

“It’s been a really good result, she’s got plenty of upside and while we hoped for a figure around that mark, you never really know so it’s very satisfying to see,’’ Marc Conners said.

“Between Mary Anne [Bozsity] at Inglis and us, we worked toward that $400,000 valuation and the market agreed with us today. She’s untapped at the moment this filly, she’s going toward the next two Inglis races in the Banner and then hopefully the Nursery over the next two months and they’re both really big prizemoney races so if she can run a hole or win one of them, it’s job done to an extent with her and then we can look to the autumn and really hope she aims up.’’

In total the October (Late) Sale grossed $2,581,100 and included six six-figure lots, the others being Queen Of Clubs ($155,000 to Blue Gum Farm and Suman Hedge Bloodstock), an unnamed Zoustar 2YO ($145,000 to Monarch Racing) and Undercovered ($125,000 to AK Select).

There have now been 240 lots sell for $100,000 or more on Inglis Digital since 2025 and 76 sell for $200,000 or more in that same period.

Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital November (Early) Sale, which will run from October 30-November 4.

Entries will remain open until midnight next Wednesday, October 28.
