Coronation Cup Victory For Taichi Master

Taichi Master (Testa Rossa x Magical Sunday) continued the great run of stakes success in Asia for Inglis Select Yearling Sale graduates when winning the Malaysian Group 1 Coronation Cup over 1600m at the Perak Turf Club on Sunday.

The victory was hot on the heels of the recent Singapore Group 1 Raffles Cup win of Super Ninetyseven and the Hong Kong Group 2 Premier Bowl triumph of Sterling City in the past 30 days.

The Tivic Stable owned Taichi Master has flourished since his transfer to Malaysia earlier this year. The five-year-old has won five of his last six starts including the last start Group 3 Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Trophy going into today’s RM700,000 feature event.

Sunday’s win gave Inglis Select Yearling Sale graduates back-to-back Coronation Cups following the win of Easter buy Speed Baby last year. Speed Baby went on to be crowned Malaysia’s Racehorse of the Year in 2012.

Bred by Southern Breeding Ventures and Hybrook Pastoral, Taichi Master was sold from Vinery Stud’s draft at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale to Dr KC Yeoh on behalf of the Tivic Stable for $140,000.

Taichi Master has had 12 career starts for seven wins and three placings for the Tivic Stable, which also tasted Group 1 success earlier this year with fellow Melbourne Premier purchase Stepitup in the Singapore Guineas.
