Dale hoping to strike it rich with Jackpot bonus victory

Sydney Morning Herald - Tony White - Sunday, 3 July 2011

Canberra trainer Matthew Dale has targeted a valuable Inglis bonus race at Caulfield on July 16 for his smart two-year-old filly Jackpot Queen.

The Super Vobis 2YO over 1000 metres carries $70,000 prizemoney and a $100,000 bonus to the winner if nominated for the Inglis Race Series.

"There’s good money on offer, a nice race to pick up," Dale said. "The added bonus makes it very attractive. It’s a race you can claim in, too. Andrew Stead, who won on her [Jackpot Queen] at Flemington, can still ride her."

Jackpot Queen, a winner of three from seven, has returned to Dale’s stables after a short break since winning over 1000 metres at Flemington on May 21. Two starts earlier the daughter of Not A Single Doubt scored over the same trip at Randwick (Kensington track) and won the Wellington Boot on March 27.

"She’s ticking over nicely," Dale added. "She’s not a filly who carries a lot of extra cargo [weight], so there wasn’t much change after the short spell. The filly worked nicely with Unanimously midweek."
