The Bede Murray-trained Darci Be Good has recorded back-to-back wins when just lasting to land the Club Liverpool Handicap (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

The stakes winning son of Kiwi stallion and former top Group I winning performer, Darci Brahma, Darci Be Good settled in the one-out-one-back position on a slow pace.

Approaching the turn, jockey Nash Rawiller gave Darci Be Good a dig in the ribs and the colt moved up three deep outside the leader Valid and King's Pact.

In the straight, Darci Be Good sprinted quickly to the lead, opening up a two length gap on his rivals before the Anthony Cummings-trained Strike The Stars began to rattle down the outside from the tail of the field.

On the line there was nothing in it with Darci Be Good prevailing by the narrowest of margins over Strike The Stars with King's Pact finishing third.

"I actually though he (Strike The Stars) had grabbed me on the post," Rawiller said.

"The only time I was confident was turning for home, it was the only time he came off the bit.

"I was forced to come off Corey's [Brown - King's Pact] back and as soon as I had done that I thought I was going to be vulnerable.

"My bloke did a terrific job to hold on, first-up over 1400m it was a very good effort."

Murray agreed with Rawiller's sentiments, he suggested there was more to come from his galloper and paid tribute to the expertise of Rawiller in relation to getting the horse going again when he dropped the bit.

"Thank goodness we had a rider like Nash on him. To the horses credit he dug deep," Murray said.

"He'll only improve from that run, I think he'll be a lot better over more ground.

"He's a real racehorse.We haven't made any plans, he's nominated in the [Caulfield] Guineas and that and hopefully he can work up to it."

Darci Be Good has won two of his four starts and more than $100,000 in prizemoney.
