Darley Draft Headlines Inglis Spring Thoroughbred Sale

Today’s annual Spring Thoroughbred Sale at Newmarket generated good competition from a widespread buying bench, with almost $500,000 changing hands.

At sale end, 87 horses had been sold at a clearance rate of 91%, for a gross tally of $491,150.

Darley brought a strong draft of 15 horses to the sale and provided the day’s two highest priced lots.

Sydney winning Viscount gelding Shakes topped the sale when selling to Roghan Hughes Thoroughbred Services for $36,000.

Fellow metropolitan winner Togni, a son of Giant’s Causeway, sold for $32,000.

Horses passed in during today’s sale are still available via the Inglis Make an Offer service.

“We took the decision to develop a Broodmare Sale in Scone during August, which proved very successful and this Spring Thoroughbred Sale now concentrates on racehorses,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy said.

“Today’s sale proved very successful, highlighted by an excellent clearance rate and strong participation on-line, with several lots being knocked down to our on-line bidders.”

Attention now heads south, with Inglis set to host the Australian Racehorse Sale at Oaklands on November 14.
