Racing stock from Darley recorded nine of the top 10 prices on a big day of trading at the 2014 Inglis Melbourne March Thoroughbred Sale on Friday.
A healthy 95% clearance rate was recorded at Oaklands today with 252 lots sold for $1,495,350. 137 lots received an online bid at the sale, with 42 being sold online.
Darley’s four-year-old gelding Union Gap (Lot 186) came into the auction off a win at Sandown on Wednesday and proved it is hard to beat winning form by topping the sale with a $82,000 bid from Tommy Hughes Jnr.
The other eight Darley gallopers to sell for $34,000 or more were Creance, Proverb, Sari, Kansas, Bank Notes, Rapid, Incrimination and Zuhayr.
The top priced broodmare was Miss Snowhalk (Lot 233) which sold to Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock Agency (FBBA) for $60,000. The half-sister to Group 3 winner Hvasstan was sold in foal to Smart Missile and with foal at foot by another exciting son of Fastnet Rock in Wanted.
Horses that passed-in at the Inglis Melbourne March Thoroughbred Sale are still available via Inglis’ Make-An-Offer Service.
Everyone is welcomed back to Oaklands this Sunday for the Melbourne Syndication Open Day. 41 yearlings will be paraded in the Oaklands Sale Ring and will be available for inspection around the complex. Their syndicators and trainers will be on hand to answer questions from all prospective owners.
