Dash For Cash Colt Tops Autumn Day 1

A colt by Australian Guineas winner Dash For Cash topped the opening session of the William Inglis Autumn Sale when he was sold to leading trainer Mick Price for $42,500 today.

The colt was offered by Phoenix Broodmare Farm and is from the Dance Floor mare Mother To Be.

A strong Victorian buying bench assembled at the sale, along with other buyers from South Australia, New South Wales, Western Australia and Tasmania.

Today’s average of $9,204 fell just short of last year’s record average figure and overall, $1.05million was traded.

“We are very happy with the result,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“Although the average is slightly down on last year’s record figure, it’s more a reflection of the revised format this year, as an additional 200 horses were previously sold in March at Melbourne Premier.”

“There was strong competition on a good number of the horses sold today and the buying bench, which included a number of on-line bidders, was spread across most part of Australia.”

Good Journey, sire of this season’s stakes winners Sound Journey and Grand Journey (the latter a G1 winning $6500 graduate of this sale herself), was the leading sire of the session, with four lots selling for $92,000, including a filly from the stakes placed Volksraad mare Volkiss to Edwards/Elkington Racing (Vic) for $35,000.
