Day 1 of August Thoroughbred Concludes in Melbourne

The Choisir mare Shake Shake Shake topped a lively session as the two day Inglis Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale kicked off with more than $450,000 traded at Oaklands today.

Shake Shake Shake was offered by Bucklee Farm in foal to Domesday and knocked down to VCB/G Cuddy As Agent, New South Wales for $40,000.

In all, 124 horses sold today for a gross of $454,050 at a clearance rate of 83 per cent.

The sale continues tomorrow, highlighted by the racehorse section, which includes a host of talented gallopers in Darley’s Annual Reduction.

“We have seen some excellent racehorse sales this year and we have assembled another strong catalogue for tomorrow’s session,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“In addition to the Darley reduction, there’s also horses like Marheta, a Group 3 winning, Group 1 placed mare, plus strong supplementary entries.”

Selling begins from 10am and the sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day Live.

Those who can’t attend can use the Online Bidding service.

Horses passed in during today’s opening session are still available for sale for the Inglis Make an Offer service.
