Inglis Digital – the world’s leading online thoroughbred sales platform – enjoyed its best ever day of results today when two of its graduates won G1 races.
At Flemington it was Caballus (I Am Invincible) for Bjorn Baker and Darby Racing, leading all the way in the Newmarket Hcp while at Randwick, the fairytale filly Sheza Alibi (Saxon Warrior) beat the boys to win the Randwick Guineas.
Scott Darby and his team pushed to $315,000 – one of their largest ever investments on a horse at the time – to secure Caballus from the October (Early) Online Sale in 2023.
The 5YO has raced 15 times since for six wins and $2.1m in prizemoney.
Prior to his Inglis Digital sale, Caballus was a $1m Easter Sale purchase for Coolmore from Bhima, who offered him on behalf of his breeder, Reg Ryan.
Today Caballus led home a First Four of Inglis graduates defeating Gallant Son, Angel Capital and Sepals.
Scott Darby always held the belief that Caballus (pictured) was a G1 horse when he stretched his budget to secure him on Inglis Digital.
“It was a lot of money for us at the time but he’d come through a race where we had a runner that we had a big opinion of so we were happy to go hard on him and when he came up for sale we pounced,’’ Darby recalled.
“It’s unbelievable really. He’s won a Newmarket!
“He’s been such a good horse for us. He won a couple early and then a few things went astray there for a bit but Bjorn got him back on track and now he’s a Group 1 winner.
“Inglis Digital does it again hey. Boy oh boy we love that platform, we’ve had some unbelievable results through it.’’
Reg Ryan bought Caballus’ dam Calming Influence for $290,000 at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale, carrying Caballus in utero.
“It’s pretty good, isn’t it. I always wanted a G1 winner and now I’ve got one,’’ Ryan said.
“I watched the race at home on the farm in Wodonga, it’s a pretty good feeling.
“Gelding him has made all the difference, Bjorn has done a great job with him and the Darby team keep having good success.’’
Alma Vale Thoroughbreds will offer an Ole Kirk half sister to Caballus at the upcoming Easter Yearling Sale.

Meanwhile Sheza Alibi confirmed her status as one of the most exciting horses in the nation with an emphatic victory against the boys in the Randwick Guineas.
The 3YO began her career in Queensland before heading to Victoria and arrived in Sydney this week with an imposing record of 8:5.2.1.
And the prospect of racing the colts and geldings proved of little concern as she put today’s field away with relative ease.
Queenslander Fred Noffke purchased the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained Sheza Alibi on Inglis Digital as a weanling in June 2023 for just $10,000.
She has not missed a place in all nine starts – and won $1.27m in prizemoney along the way - and looks destined for more G1 success in the future.
Co-trainer Katherine Coleman was at Randwick to witness today’s performance and was blown away by the dominance of the win.
“She’s just something special, this filly,’’ Coleman said.
“She’s put the writing on the wall previously but this has been her hardest test to date and to put a quality field away like that, wowee, I’m shaking.
“She’s got that extra quality and she deserved her spot here today and hasn’t she done a good job.’’
Sheza Alibi will now likely be spelled before targeting the $10m Golden Eagle in the spring.
Sheza Alibi and Caballus are the 116th and 117th G1-winning Inglis graduates respectively since 2018.
Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth was proud of today’s success stories.
“We follow our graduates closely and knew both Caballus and Sheza Alibi were going to be right in their respective races but for them to both come out and win the way they did, it’s fantastic,’’ Melmeth said.
“Inglis Digital continues to deliver the big results for buyers. It seems every weekend there’s more great outcomes on all levels – obviously there’s the two G1 winners today, a fortnight ago Streisand won the G1 Blue Diamond and her dam Zouper Star was a $15,000 Inglis Digital buy, there were two Stakes winners on the same day in Adelaide recently in Eventually and Power Beau that cost $5500 and $14,000 respectively, Salon S remains unbeaten in Hong Kong and cost just $17,000 on Inglis Digital, it’s great to see.
“Even last night’s Listed Torney Cup winner Bright Legend is an Inglis Digital graduate, having cost Joanne Mugavin just $2500 last June and now she has won a $200,000 race!’’
