The G2-winning filly Double Market (Castelvecchio) topped today’s Inglis Digital June (Late) Online Sale, realising $200,000.
Offered by Lindsay Park, Double Market was purchased by Geoff Walsh, who said the mare would likely be served by exciting young stallion Anamoe this season.
“I’ve got a nom to Anamoe, I think he’s the complete package, I like the fact he kept racing and won in every year that he was racing and he’s also a very attractive stallion that I think will really suit Double Market,’’ Walsh said.
“Jim Clarke advises me on my bloodstock purchases and he graded this mare highly on physique especially, plenty of strength and he thinks she could throw some nice foals and become a commercial broodmare for me.
“I like to have 12-15 mares and I lost one foaling down last year so I’ve been looking to replace her and Double Market really fitted the bill.
“I was hoping to get her for a bit less but I thought $200,000 was a fair price, anything over that would have stretched me to keep going much further.
“Inglis Digital is painless, you don’t have to stand around for days like at an auction when you have to wait for your horse to come into the ring, only to find you get knocked out of the park, which has happened to me a few times this year.’’
Lindsay Park’s Josh Rix was delighted with the outcome.
“We’re really happy with this result for our owners and we appreciate all the effort the Inglis Digital team went to to market her and get the sale result they did,’’ Rix said.
“I really believe she will make a great broodmare for her new owners.’’
Today’s second-top lot was the 6YO mare Takemine (Hellbent), a three-quarter sister to Chayan which sold at this year’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $5.6m.
Offered by her ownership group, Takemine sold to Michael Pitt for $160,000.
Pitt confirmed Takemine would be immediately retired and bred to this spring, although he was unsure of which stallion she would visit.
“I have three mares at Arrowfield so I’ll have a chat to the team there and see what they think about potential matings but I still have a bit of time up my sleeve to make that call,’’ Pitt said.
“I’ve been looking for another nice mare for a while now and I found her when I looked at the Inglis Digital catalogue when it came online on Friday and just thought with her breeding and from a family that is doing so much, she would have every chance at stud.
“Chayan obviously sold for a lot of money at your Chairman’s Sale last month and has a heck of a lot of ability, the mare (Lubiton) is in foal to I Am Invincible again, the 3YO will be back on the track shortly, there’s just a lot of upside in the family and I saw this as a great opportunity to get my hands on a nice mare.
“I bought a mare called Prana online through Inglis in 2020 for $85,000 in foal to So You Think that I’ve done very well out of, I sold the So You Think for $250,000 then sent her to The Autumn Sun a few times and had some more nice sale ring results there.
“I find buying with Inglis Digital very easy, I had some advice from the Arrowfield team as to this mare’s type which was helpful but I like the bidding process, it’s a very easy process with no problems at all.’’
Takemine’s part owner Jack Cavanough added: “That’s a great result for us, we’re stoked.
“The Inglis team did a great job, they’re super easy to work with because they take all the hard work away from us and their marketing machine kicks into action and you get results like this.
“She’s been great for us and I’m sure she’ll be equally as great as a broodmare for her new owner, who we wish all the best.’’
In total today’s June (Late) Sale grossed $3,125,450, with other significant results including Dayeala – in foal to The Autumn Sun – which sold to Mayfair Farm for $120,000 and a Godolphin draft of 10 racehorses which grossed $435,500, headed by the 3YO Comedy which sold to Jack Bruce for $95,000.
It capped another productive month for the platform, whose June (Early) Sale grossed in excess of $4m and the inaugural use of the Bull Ring was successfully implemented when the G1-winning entire Reserve Bank sold for an undisclosed sum to Aaron Bott last week.
Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital July (Early) Sale, which will be held from July 10-15.
Entries will remain open until midnight on Wednesday July 8.
