Doubloon Makes $125,000 at Spring Thoroughbred Sale

Highlighted by an excellent clearance rate of 89 per cent, the Inglis Spring Thoroughbred Sale attracted a strong buying bench with multiple Sydney winning mare Doubloon the top priced lot at $125,000.

The daughter of Desert Prince, who is a half-sister to the stakes winning mare Walk Alone, was sold carrying a positive test to red hot Darley stallion Lonhro.

From the same family, the Jeune mare Tiger Doll fetched $65,000 to the bid of Colm Santry Bloodstock. She too was sold in foal to Lonhro.

Both top lots were sold on the account of D&V Storey.

In all, 102 horses were sold today for a total of $909,950. Over 10% of lots were purchased online with half of the catalogue receiving an online bid.

Don’t Tell Pat topped the first phase of Shipton Lodge’s reduction when selling to Victorian interests for $50,000.

Buyers will have the opportunity to compete for another 30 of Shipton’s racing team at the inaugural Australian Racehorse Sale, to be held in Melbourne on Sunday November 15.

This exciting new sale has been created to meet the increasing local and international demand for readymade racehorses.

This sale will use the latest in video technology. The Breeze Up and Select Racehorse Session will include detailed race form and video footage for each lot catalogued.

For unraced horses, Inglis will incorporate either official trial footage or breeze up footage, as nominated by the Vendor. Breeze up horses may canter or work at a pace determined by the Vendor and will not be timed.
