The catalogue for the southern hemisphere’s premier yearling Sale, 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, to be held at Newmarket from April 6-8, is now online.
The catalogue can be viewed HERE
In keeping with the exemplary standard of Easter, the catalogue includes 173 lots from stakes winning dams, including the progeny of 44 Group 1 winners.
There are also 172 siblings to stakes winners, including 51 Group 1 winners.
This year’s sale has received two important high profile inclusions since the Easter Preview was released in December. Tony Santic has opted to sell the great Makybe Diva’s second foal, a filly by Fusaichi Pegasus, while the southern hemiphere's most expensive purchase Milanova will be represented by an Encosta de Lago filly on account of Coolmore Stud.
“Once again we have been fortunate to receive great support from all of Australasia’s leading breeders, with their best horses being aimed at the Easter Sale,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy said.
“This year’s catalogue has a good mix of proven top class stallions like Encosta De Lago, Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur, Zabeel and More Than Ready, intertwined with strong drafts from up and comers like Fastnet Rock, Stratum, Lonhro, Snitzel and Starcraft.”
D’Arcy said there will be no shortage of opportunities to secure a quality yearling at a good price this year.
“Given market conditions thus far in 2010, it is reasonable to assume that $80,000 to $150,000 will be able to buy you a top class individual at this year’s sale,” he said.
D’Arcy also pointed to yesterday’s ultra impressive Randwick winner Beneteau, a $1million colt from the 2009 sale, as to the drawcards of shopping in the higher range at Easter.
“He’s an exciting prospect and that is what the top end of Easter is all about,” D’Arcy said. “His owners will be richly rewarded if he can win one of those top autumn two-year-old races.”
Beneteau’s sire Redoute’s Choice has 47 yearlings this year. Encosta De Lago, who provided last year’s $1.8million sale topper, is the most represented sire with 57 yearlings, while fellow Champion Australian sire Flying Spur has 55.
Other sires with big drafts include Fastnet Rock (44), Exceed And Excel (33), More Than Ready (29), and Rock Of Gibraltar (29).
New Zealand legend Zabeel has 14 Easter yearlings this year, while his emerging grandson Lonhro has 13.
Easter II, which has proven a huge hit since its inception two years ago, will have 114 yearlings catalogued. This session has already produced top class graduates like VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume, Lovemelikearock, Run For Naara and emerging Hong Kong griffin Leading City.
“This is without doubt the best group of horses seen in this session and once again we are grateful for the support of our clients,” D’Arcy said.
“This session has averaged $65,000 in the last two years and prospective purchasers with $50,000 to $100,000 to spend should make sure they are here at Newmarket for Easter.”
