Unison an exciting late addition to Easter Broodmares

The regally bred stakes-winner Unison joins the Newhaven Park Stud draft as lot 573Aat the forthcoming Easter Broodmare Sale and will be offered for sale in foal to Rock Of Gibraltar.

By Marauding, Unison won the AJC Widden Stakes and the STC Quality Handicap, both Listed races, and was placed in the Group 1 Galaxy and Group 2 STC Premiere Stakes.

Her daughter Kidman (by Quest For Fame), who was placed in both the Group 2 Slipper Trial and Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes, is dam of lot 357 in the Easter Yearling Sale, while Unison’s fifth foal, a filly by Dehere, is lot 126.

Unison herself is out of the Blue Diamond Prelude winner Zedagal, a sister to multiple Group 1 winning sire Zedative from a very speedy family.

Half-sisters to Slipper stars on offer at the Broodmare Sale

For buyers looking to breed a potential Slipper star, the 2006 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale, boasts half-sisters to three of the leading lights in Saturday’s $3 million juvenile blue ribband.

Is a half-sister to the Group 2 STC Todman Stakes winner DIEGO GARCIA and will be offered in Sunday’s Race Fillies and Mares section by Gooree Park Stud Pty Ltd.

(01. Belong To Me x Lady Capel, by Last Tycoon)
Is a half-sister to the Group 3 AJC Skyline Stakes winner and ante-post Slipper favourite CASINO PRINCE. From Broadwater Farm the winning mare is offered in foal to leading sire General Nediym.

(02. Real Quiet x Dancing Jester, by Rory’s Jester)
Is a half-sister to last Saturday’s Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes winner TARLETON offered in foal to Danewin from Cressfield.

Is another half-sister to DIEGO GARCIA offered by J.W & L.E Randle in foal to Mull Of Kintyre.

In addition, fellow Slipper hopeful ONE TIME (2005 Scone $28,000) has a full-brother entered in the upcoming Scone Yearling Sale.

Stakes winners and Producers in abundance

Selling at this year’s Easter Weanling and Broodmare sale gets underway just three days after the yearling auction concludes and William Inglis have already had a huge response from overseas buyers extending their stay to include the breeding stock sales.

The sale offers drafts from leading nurseries Coolmore Stud, Widden Stud,Torryburn, Tyreel, Woodlands Stud, Collingrove Hunter Valley and Edinglassie.

During Sunday’s select Race Filly and Mare section, which takes place following the auction of 197 weanlings, among the numerous lots to possess stakes-winning relatives are two half-sisters to the Group 1 winners Senator (NZ) (212) and Danglissa (221), while stakes-performers Hennessy Waltz (237), Infinite Grace (240), Lil Elsa (202), True Doubt (219) and Jestajewel (242) star in their own right.

Following on immediately afterwards a small selection of broodmares will come under the hammer.

Lots not to be missed on Sunday include the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes winner La Bella Dama (NZ) (259) offered in foal to Encosta De Lago. Coolmore Stud offer the proven producer Lady Of Destiny (NZ) (270) in foal to Choisir, the mare is already dam of the stakes winners Akarana and Suavity. Cressfield send up Madam’s Way (NZ) 294, dam of the Group 1 Galaxy winner Black Bean, while Invermien Pty offer the well-connected Ahonoora mare Malin Head (USA) (299), dam of three stakes winning progeny.

The broodmare showcase continues in earnest on Monday with numerous Group 1 winners/producers due through the ring, including among many others the Queensland Oaks winner Miss Danehill (323) from Kia Ora Stud as part of the Oamaru dispersal and in foal to Refuse To Bend; Mrs Kahn (336) dam of Ike’s Dream in foal to Shamardal from Bowness Stud; Our Egyptian Raine (NZ) (369) and Paraca (ARG) (379) both in foal to Good Journey as part of the Written Bloodstock dispersal and Silky Oak (NZ) (479) in foal to Exceed and Excel from Edinglassie.

Finally, Tuesday’s session provides buyers the opportunity to purchase the Group 1 producer Belgravia (667), dam of the Australian Cup winner Old Comrade and Holbrook Lass (881) dam of the Caulfield Guineas winner In Top Swing, offered in foal to Rock Of Gibraltar. Group 1 winners on offer during the final session include Battle Maiden (ZIM) (662), Diablo Girl (NZ) (784) and France Soir (Chi) (839).
