Elvstroem Filly To Be Auctioned on Sunday

In conjunction with the Sale Turf Club, Inglis will auction an unbroken Elvstroem filly from the great Klairessa family at the Club’s Sale Cup day meeting this Sunday.

This meeting will also feature the running of country Victoria’s richest 3YO restricted race – the GPG Inglis Trophy, valued at $100,000 for three year olds 0-82 class over 1400 metres.

The race is restricted to horses nominated for the lucrative $2,600,000 Inglis Race Series and it has attracted outstanding entries. With 26 nominations, the race looks certain to attract a capacity field.

“We were thrilled earlier on when the Sale Turf Club became involved in the Inglis Race Series with the new $100,000 3YO race on their Cup Day and to entrust us with the auctioning of this young filly on the day is gratifying,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“The Sale Turf Club are very progressive and after being approached to secure a horse to auction we were lucky enough to obtain this lovely 2YO filly by Elvstroem, who automatically becomes entry free into the $2.6 million Inglis Race Series.”

The two-year-old filly, from the Royal Academy mare Terra Nova, is being prepared for the club by Julian Welsh, the man who broke in Elvstroem. As part of this auction, he is offering the successful bidders $2000 off the normal breaking cost. Her pedigree can be viewed HERE.

Terra Nova is from a three-quarter-sister to Bonanova and her second dam, the stakes placed Great Klaire, is a half-sister to the great Eight Carat, dam of the G1 winners Octagonal, Mouawad, Kaapstad, Our Marquise and Diamond Lover. Sirecam footage of the filly can be viewed HERE.

Elvstroem (pictured) himself has made an outstanding start to his stud career, with the stakes winners Carrara and Viking Legend both going on to place at Group 1 level.

The filly will arrive at approximately 12 noon and will be in the horse stalls until 1.10pm, at which time she will parade in the mounting yard.

She will then go to a box in the on course stables until she is auctioned at 2.55pm (EDST).

“We are delighted to be part of the Inglis Race Series and to provide owners the opportunity to compete for another $100,000 race at our blue riband event,” Sale Turf Club Chairman Thelma Coster said.

“It certainly adds another string to the bow, in addition to the $120,000 Eastcoast Plumbtec Sale Cup.”
