Entries Closing for Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale

The highly successful Inglis Australian Weanling and Bloodstock Sale, which has quickly established itself as one of the most important sales of its type in the southern hemisphere, will be held next month.

The sale, which covers weanlings, broodmares, yearlings, unbroken stock and racehorses, will be held at Newmarket in Sydney from June 22-24.

In its first year, the sale set a new southern hemisphere record price for a thoroughbred at auction when Milanova fetched $5million as part of the Tyreel Stud dispersal.

Twin Palms and Risdon have also conducted highly successful dispersals at the sale.

Once again in conjunction with this sale, Inglis will conduct its highly successful first season sire showcase to be shown exclusively on TVN. The showcase provides studmasters the perfect opportunity to highlight outstanding progeny of their first season sires nominated in this sale to an international audience.

Also as part of the weanling section, 2010 progeny of any broodmares sold at the recent Australian Easter Broodmare Sale or in the broodmare section of this sale will be sold Commission Free.

In addition, any broodmare withdrawn or passed in from the select session of the 2011 Australian Easter Broodmare Sale may be re-offered at this sale with Free Entry.

This sale grossed close to $10million in 2010, with the Select weanlings selling up to $230,000 at an average of almost $30,000.

“The timing of this sale is perfect for reduction or dispersal of broodmares and race fillies because it is held on the dawn of a new breeding season,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

“The successful dispersals have proved popular with buyers looking to secure stock for new and established stallions in the upcoming season.

“And the weanling section has proven very popular with pinhookers, especially buyers from New Zealand, who secured 20 of the top 50 lots last year.

“It should also be noted the sale produced an excellent clearance rate of 85% across the weanling and broodmare sections last year.”

Yearlings, unbroken stock and racehorses will be sold on Friday June 24 with an entry fee of just $385, following the weanlings and broodmare the two days prior.

This sale represents the last chance to sell yearlings in Australia this year, with all yearlings offered being eligible for nomination into the $2.6million Inglis Race Series including the $100,000 2yo Scone Challenge for graduates of Scone & this sale only.

“It also means those vendors have the opportunity to sell tried horses to the growing international buying bench at the sale,” Webster said. “In past years we have had buyers of racing stock from the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United States, in additional to all states and territories in Australia.”
