Fare Well - One To Watch

Breednet - Tara Madgwick - Tuesday, 28 May 2013

The ATC meeting at Gosford on Tuesday produced a very smart debut winner, whose yearling three-quarter -brother sold for $4million at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Breaking the ice with a super impressive win in the 1100 metre juvenile fillies maiden was the Clarry Conners trained Fare Well, an Exceed and Excel filly from Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove.

Placed in her two previous trials, Fare Well settled just behind the leaders and accelerated smartly in the straight to stride easily past them and keep right on going to the line.

"I rode her in a trial the other day and thought at the time she'd be an absolute certainty wherever she went to race," said winning rider Christian Reith.

A $510,000 Inglis Easter purchase for James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of Dr Edmund and Mrs Belinda Bateman, Fare Well (pictured as a yearling) delivered on that assessment and has a very bright future according to stable representative Marc Conners.

"It was a nice debut as she's such a well bred filly," said Conners.

"They've (the Batemans) been great owners and it's nice to have another winner for them. She put them away very easily today."

Bred and offered for sale by Cressfield, Fare Well was the most expensive yearling by Exceed and Excel sold in 2012 and is the second winner for River Dove, a half-sister to the dam of Group III winner Kulgrinda, who is also by Exceed and Excel.

River Dove made headlines at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this year when her colt by Fastnet Rock fetched a whopping $4million to the bid of Emirates Park.

River Dove has a weanling colt by Exceed and Excel and is back in foal to Fastnet Rock.
