February Horse of the Month

28th Feb 2006

William Inglis & Son is immensely proud of its graduates who every month promote our name in winners circles around the globe.

This month we are delighted to recognise the achievements of

NADEEM

Breeding: 2yo colt by Redoute’s Choice ex Candide (NZ), by Sound Reason (CAN)
Vendor: Edinglassie Stud as agent
Owner: Shadwell Stud Australasia Syndicate
Trainer: David Hayes

Nadeem put up a dazzling performance to land Melbourne’s juvenile showpiece Group 1 AAMI Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday 25th February.

Defying the appalling conditions left by a torrential downpour, the Redoute’s Choice colt travelled at the rear of the field before making a scorching run down the centre of the track in the home straight, to deny his stablemate and fellow Easter graduate Miss Finland by two and a quarter lengths.

"It was like a mile race today. They [Nadeem and Miss Finland] are tough horses," said trainer David Hayes.

"But that's the good thing about wet tracks for your two-year-olds as you know they are going to pull up well."

The victory stamps Nadeem as a colt with a big future not just on the track but also as a potential stallion.

Inglis Director of Sales Jonathan D’Arcy said, "The 2005 Easter sale was dominated by Redoute's Choice and so it comes as no surprise that one of Australia's time honoured two-year-old events fell to one of his Easter colts.

“Being the eleventh foal of an older mare may have turned some buyers off this extremely good looking colt, but Redoute's Choice is rewriting the rule book when it comes to good horses.

“Shadwell Estates and the Lindsay Park team should take a bow for their astute management of this exceptionally talented colt who follows in the footsteps of previous Easter graduates Exceed and Excel, Benicio, Al Maher, California Dane, Reset, Elvstroem, Lucky Owners and Fasnet Rock who have become highly sought after stud prospects following their racetrack exploits.”

Nadeem was selected and bought at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s racing manager Angus Gold for $700,000. He was offered by Mick and Michelle Talty’s Edinglassie Stud as agent.

He is the eleventh foal out of Sound Reason mare Candide, the New Zealand Champion three-year-old filly in 1987/88 and became Redoute’s Choice’s second successive winner of a race he won himself in 1999.
