Fifth Stakes Win For Youthful Jack

Racing And Sports - Saturday, 30 May 2009

Youthful Jack continued to eat into the $800,000 that was offered for him last year when winning his fifth stakes race in today's Listed Conrad Treasury Brisbane 3YO Plate (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

The offer was made for the son of Youthful Legs after he won dual stakes races at last year's Queensland winter carnival, but because of a failed scope, the deal fell through.

The gelding is making a good fist of eating into that hefty purchase price, having now won 12 races in 20 starts.

Today's win was Youthful Jack's fifth this season – third at stakes level - and took his earnings to $675,000.

He had been struggling for his best form since returning to Queensland, but the wet track did the trick today, making i four from four on slow tracks and six from six on all tracks rated Dead or worse.

Ross Stitt gave just $5500 for Youthful Jack (ex Fomative, by White Bridle) at an Inglis Mixed Sale in 2007 and he continues to be one of racing's great bargains.
