A flood of entries in the last fortnight has further established the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale in the first week of May as the perfect opportunity for vendors. Farms wishing to offer their premium broodmares and weanlings alongside the quality reductions and dispersals confirmed for the Sydney sale must submit their entries before 5pm this Thursday 17 March.
Over 200 weanlings are currently entered along with more than 600 broodmares, headlined by Group 1 winner Faint Perfume and top producer Extremely, the dam of Saturday’s Golden Slipper favourite Extreme Choice. Latest entries include a substantial draft of mares from Newgate Farm, one of the Hunter Valley’s most progressive thoroughbred nurseries.
Group 1 performer Pane In The Glass is offered in foal to Newgate's resident first season sire Deep Field, as is stakes-winning mare Hidden Wonder. Another highlight of their 27 quality breeding prospects is stakes-placed Follonica is in foal to Australian Horse Of The Year Dissident.
Joining Newgate and other headline drafts from Bell River Thoroughbreds, Bell View Park Stud, Gooree Park Stud and Think Big Stud are the leading vendors from the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Blue Gum Farm.
In addition, Segenhoe Stud, Yarraman Park Stud, Coolmore Stud, Kitchwin Hills, Torryburn Stud, Swettenham Stud, Davali Thoroughbreds, Newhaven Park and Rothwell Park have entered drafts, as have Middlebrook Valley Lodge whose 13 select broodmares include Ininthree, a daughter of blue hen Parfore, dam of Tiger Tees, Terravista and Ball of Muscle. Ininthree joins the company of siblings to I Am Invincible, Elvstroem and Haradasun, Speak Fondly, Gust Of Wind and Messene to be entered in the broodmare section.
Mares by the globe’s leading broodmare sires have already been entered, attracting interest from buyers nationally. Encosta de Lago, Zabeel, Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur and Danehill are represented, along with Anabaa, Canny Lad, Shamardal, Street Cry, Northern Meteor, Dubawi and Fastnet Rock. Strategic, broodmare sire of recent Group 1 winners Holler and Le Romain, and Group 2 winner French Fern, has five daughters already catalogued.
Reinforcing the strength of the Broodmare section are the headline sires represented by progeny in the weanling section, including those from the first crop of freshman sires Zoustar, Epaulette, Dundeel, Shamus Award, Eurozone, Declaration Of War, Dawn Approach and Sizzling.
Joining them are weanlings by exciting young sires All Too Hard, So You Think, Uncle Mo, Zoffany, Excelebration, and proven sires Fastnet Rock, Sebring, Stratum, I Am Invincible, Hinchinbrook and Choisir. The weanling section will also feature siblings to stakes performers Craftiness, Meidung, Octavia, Vinnie Eagle and Too Many Reds.
The four day sale is the first opportunity in 2016 to trade premium breeding stock, and vendor travel rebates and limited commission offered this year are designed to give vendors the best possible financial outcome. Inglis’ guaranteed early payment, where sale proceeds are paid before 17 June, means profits are available even earlier.
Entries to the 2016 Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale, to be held on 1, 2, 3 and 4 May must close 5pm Thursday 17 March. Online entries can be lodged HERE. Hard-copy entry forms can also be downloaded HERE.
