Fiorente Syndicate Snap Up Spring Sale Topper

Sydney metro winning Encosta de Lago mare Fulminate topped the Inglis Spring Thoroughbred Sale in Sydney today when snapped up by the Fiorente Syndicate for $125,000.

Fulminate is a half-sister to stakes winner Illuminates and a grand-daughter of Queensland Oaks winner Travel Light. The $150,000 earner was offered as Lot 52 straight off the track making her an attractive addition to the large book of mares set to be covered by Melbourne Cup and Australian Cup winner Fiorente in his first season at Eliza Park Stud this year.

“Eliza Park International is supporting Fiorente with some great mares in order to give him the optimal chance of success at stud. There are already 120 mares booked in the handsome son of Monsun which is really exciting,” said Mark Lindsay, Sales and Nominations Manager at Eliza Park International.

The Spring Sale closed with an excellent clearance rate of 85% thanks to some strong bidding, both online and at Newmarket, from the broodmares section all the way through the racing stock.

Forgiveness, a sister to Group 1 winner Mimi Lebrock, was secured by Coolmore Stud for $72,000 after passing in when offered by Newhaven Park as Lot 3. Auctioneer Jonathan D’Arcy noted that the Fastnet Rock yearling from Mimi Lebrock is one the best he’s seen and the colt will be offered by Segenhoe Stud at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Imported mare Bugaboo was purchased by a client of Inglis’ for $48,000 when sold by Waratah Thoroughbreds as Lot 13.

The top price recorded in the racehorse colts and geldings section was $28,000 for Encosta de Lago’s son Reunite, which was sold as Lot 57 by Princes Farm. Fifth at Randwick on Wednesday the gelding was today bought by Jeremy Sylvester.

Online bidding was very busy at today’s sale with 65% of the lots offered receiving an online bid from the 30 active individual online bidders. 19% of lots sold were knocked down to online bidders.

The next auction on the Inglis Sales Calendar is the Melbourne August Thoroughbred Sale next Friday 22 August. Supplementary entries for that sale close at 5pm today. Go to inglis.com.au for more information.
